About Elk Grove Girls Softball

Elk Grove Girls Softball is fast-pitch softball for players in grades 4Y PreK-12. All experiences are welcome! The playing levels are divided into 5 divisions by grade:

Instructional Instructional 4Y - K 11-inch
Competitive Ponytail 1 - 2 11-inch
Competitive Sophomore 3 - 5 11-inch
Competitive Junior 6 - 8 12-inch
Competitive Senior 9 - 12 12-inch

Elk Grove Girls Softball provides the full uniform consisting of jersey, pants, and socks.

Note: Shorts are no longer permitted during games.

Uniforms will be distributed prior to Picture Day.

Required equipment:

  • Mitt
  • Softball bat
  • Cleats (softball or baseball is fine; no metal spikes)
  • Batting helmet with face guard and chin strap

Optional equipment:

  • Fielder's mask - strongly suggested
  • Batting gloves
  • Gear bag or backpack

Not all equipment is required on the first day of practice. It may help to see what other players have or what is recommended by your manager.

2021 Softball Season

Instructional - Junior Divisions

After registration closes on March 3:

  • Instructional league - teams are generally formed by school or region. Some exceptions may occur.
  • Competitive league - the board and managers will hold a draft to form the teams.

Once the teams are formed, you will be contacted by your manager approximately the 2nd-3rd week in March, with more information about the team meeting, practice schedule, and locations.

Practices begin approximately first week of April. Practices are held approximately 2 times a week.

Games begin on approximately second week of May. Games are held approximately 2 times a week.

Playoffs begin on approximately fourth week of June. Championships is scheduled for the weekend of June 25-26.

Note: All dates are subject to change due to weather or other scheduling conflicts.

Senior Division

The Senior division season begins after the high school season ends. Games will be with Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights. Games will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays (14 Total plus Playoffs).

The Elk Grove Park District controls the fields. If it rains, they let us know the condition. If they are closed, no activities are allowed on them, including practices. You will hear from your manager or the EGGS board as soon as possible.
